Marcus is our new HMR / NPS facilitator who will be working with us on a part time basis. This is a new and exciting role in the Division allowing Marcus to concentrate his efforts on both the Home Medicine Reviews (HMR) and National Prescribing Service (NPS) programs; to promote and enhance strategies to provide the most optimal drug treatments available to improve patient outcomes. Marcus is a HMR accredited pharmacist who is consumer driven and has a passion for the Quality Use of Medicines. He continues to provide HMR services which affords him a greater understanding of the HMR process. With 20 years experience in retail pharmacy, Marcus brings a multitude of skills, and has an understanding of the needs of clients, doctors, and other allied health professionals in a healthcare setting, promoting efficient communication channels for all concerned. Marcus has an interest in IT innovation to encourage more efficient workflow and safe data sharing.

Claire’s role at the Division has changed with the needs of the Division in the 5 years she has been with the Division and now with her needs as a new mum. Her main focus is coordinating the IT area of the Population Health Team including the Division's website, Medical Director Training and templates, PENCS tutorials and updates. Part of this includes developing resources for General Practices and consumers; this includes the newsletter “Living Active and Healthy”, templates and brochures.

Sue is a Registered General Nurse with a Degree in Nursing Studies and a Certificate in Immunisation who was employed by the Division in 2006 to manage the Immunisation Program and facilitate ATSI and Refugee Health. She has eleven years experience in practice nursing and enjoys sharing her knowledge in the practice setting. She is a member of the Infection Control Association of South Australia and the South Australian Refugee Health Network.

 

Kirsty Delguste

Kirsty is an RN with a bachelor of Nursing as well as a diploma in Nutrition She has been at the division as the Aged Care RN Liaison and is now the Primary care Integration Coordinator. Most of her 14 years of Nursing has been as a community Nurse. She has recently moved back to Australia after 6 years in Canada, where she was community Case Manager. Her role as PCIP Coordinator is to support GPs and practices with prevention and management of chronic disease. As well as improving referrals and pathways for the use of community services. The program also aims to work closely with practices, allied health and service providers to identify gaps and develop more seamless pathways of care.

Emma is employed as Health Promotions Officer and will be helping with the set up and management of the new Lifestyle Modification Program. Emma graduated from the University of Adelaide in August 2008 with a degree in Health Science, majoring in Pathology. Over her time at university, Emma developed a keen interest in understanding the underlying causes and progression of chronic disease. Since November 2008, Emma has spent several months travelling throughout Europe and as such this is her first official position since graduating. She is excited to face the challenges that lie ahead.

Sheridan Russell

Sheridan is employed as the Program Support Officer to the Australian Better Health Care Initiative (ABHI) and Immunisation programs. Sheridan’s role is to assist both Kirsty Delguste and Sue Lake in the facilitation, implementation and coordination of the ABHI and Immunisation programs and help keep things running as smooth as possible. Sheridan has worked in many different industries before, all having a strong Customer Service and administration background.


Mental Health Program

Dr Cate Howell

Cate is GP Mental Health Advisor to the Mental Health Team.  Cate is a GP and Occupational Therapist, working as a GP and lecturer at the University of Adelaide and at two University General Practices.  She has a special interest in, and has undertaken post-graduate training in, mental health.  Cate has helped establish the mental health program at the Division and continues to be an advisor to all aspects of the program.

Michele has worked as a Clinical Psychologist for over 18 years and is a Consultant Psychologist to the mental health team.  Michele was involved in the development of the group therapy programs at the Division.  She also works at her own private practice in North Adelaide.

Wendy Hariz

Wendy is an Occupational Therapist and Project Coordinator of Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS).  She is involved in the overall administration of the program, and this involves liaising with clients, GPs and practice staff to ensure the service meets the demands of the community.  A clinical component of Wendy's role also involves running groups and individual therapy.

John Poole is a Clinical Nurse and Project Coordinator of the Mental Health Shared Care 2 Progam.  John's role involves working closely with a number of practices and offering free assistance with assessments of clients with mental health issues and referral to appropriate services to improve patient care.

Melanie Smith

Melanie's role is to provide support to the Mental Health Team (both administrative and any other duties) and to assist with strategies in relation to Core Mental Health.  Melanie works collaboratively with Wendy and John across the Access to Allied Psychological Services and Shared Care programs.  Melanie has an undergraduate degree in Psychology.

Melissa works as a Program Assistant at the Division and assists Wendy with the ATAPS Program.  Melissa has completed her Honours degree in Psychology and is currently studying her Masters in Health Psychology at the University of Adelaide.  Melissa also works as a research assistant for Dr Cate Howell.

Melanie works as a Program Assistant at the Division part-time and assists with the group programs and administration.  Melanie is also involved in a stress management group for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander women at the Aboriginal Outreach Health Service.  Melanie is studying a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of South Australia.

 

 

Charlotte Marshall

Charlotte is a registered psychologist who has been involved with the Division since completing her Masters placement in 2004. Charlotte has  worked as a psychologist at Child Protection Services at the Women's and Children's Hospital. Her role at the Division includes running therapeutic groups, individual therapy and helping to run training workshops for GPs. Charlotte works part-time at the Division and also works at a private practice in North Adelaide.

Mark is a Social Worker who facilitates the therapeutic groups and the Meditation Based Stress Management group. He has worked as a counsellor in the community health sector and as a work place counsellor. He currently works part-time at the Division, and also at the University of Adelaide in the Student Counselling Centre. Mark has a special interest in meditation and brings this skill to the Division.

 

 

Ros Yuen
Clinical Social Worker

Ros is a mental health social worker and family therapist with experience in child adolescent mental health, forensic and adult mental health. She has worked with behaviourally disordered young people, sex and violent offenders and forensic patients. Ros provides individual therapy under the Better Access Initiative at ANEDGP. Ros is a doctoral candidate in gender studies at the School of Education at the University of South Australia.

Ian is a Mental Health Nurse with other 30 years experience in the community mental health sector.  Ian's role at the Division involves triaging clients and conducting individual assessments to determine a client's eligibility for group or individual therapy. 

Simon McKay

Simon is a registered Occupational Therapist (OT). The majority of his professional working experiences have been in mental health service delivery, having worked in both community and hospital settings and also in the Child & Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS). Simon has recently developed a private practice service for mental health clients and this is how he came to work with the ANEDGP.  Simon works part-time at the Division.

Natalie Szabo

Natalie is the GP Plus Practice Nurses Project Coordinator for the North East Division as well as the coordinator for the Central North Adelaide region. Her role includes recruitment, placement and training for Nurses involved in the GP Plus Practice Nurses Project. She also organises education and professional development sessions for Practice Nurses. Natalie is a full-time employee of the Division.

Bronwyn is a Registered Nurse with experience in General Practice, Day Surgery and Aged Care. Her role at the Division is to support Practice Nurses in setting up systems in General Practice, and also to mentor and orientate new nurses involved in the GP Plus Practice Nurse Project.

Jane Shillingford is a Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Applied Science (Nursing) and a certificate Diabetes Practice Nursing. Jane's role is to support practices nurses with chronic disease management and setting up systems, including diabetes clinics.

 

 

Irene Glasson

Irene is a past Practice Manager with over 20 years of experience in both specialist practice and general practice.  Her role within the Division is to offer support and advice to practices on various management systems within their practice.  Her area of particular expertise is in accreditation as she also works as a surveyor with Australian General Practice Accreditation.

She brings to the Division experience of working with both the Southern and Western Divisions of General Practice.  Irene is a fellow of the Australian Association of Practice Managers.

Eve Broadbent

Eve has commenced the role as CPD coordinator, assisting in the coordination of the Quality Practice Program including, GP Education sessions, Practice Staff Development Group and Practice Managers Network. Eve will be contributing significantly to the Quality Practice Program whilst also assisting and supporting the GP Plus Practice Nurse program. Eve holds certificate II in Business, III in Business Administration and IV in Business Frontline management.
