Organisational Structure of the Division

The Division is an autonomous body managed by an elected Board, comprising six general practitioner members who practice predominantly in the North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide and four lay (non-GP) members.  These serving lay members have full voting rights.  Of the four, one is a Stakeholder Representative, one is a Consumer Representative and the other two are drawn from the Associate Membership. 

The Executive Committee comprises of the Chair and the Division Management Team.  The Treasurer, together with the Division Management Team, makes up the Finance Committee.  We are establishing an Audit Committee which met for the first time in February, 2009.

Advisory Committees

Advisory Committees, originally established as 'subcommittees', continue to support and assist the Board in the planning processes and development of Division activities.  They include representation from key stakeholders and consumers from their representative groups.  All Advisory Committees operate with clear terms of reference, meet regularly to discuss relevant issues, act as a clearinghouse for the relevant area, and make recommendations to the Board of Management.  The Board also seeks direction and refers items for consideration, making this a two way communication process.

Advisory Committees are established for all key result areas and other major activities or projects.  Some of the current Advisory Committees are involved in the areas of Aged Care, Disease Management and Prevention, Quality Practice and Mental Health.
